This Week in Kindergarten: March 28th-April 1, 2022 Please practice sight words at home nightly. Please also use our Raz-Kids online reading resource. Try and read at least one story nightly, on Raz-Kids. Reading ~We will read stories about hiking. We will read "Nicky and the Rainy Day", "Sheep Take a Hike", "Three Billy Goats Gruff" , and "The Easter Egg". We continue to focus on sequencing and retelling. We also will be learning about words in -op word family. Vocabulary Words: blizzards, boring, cliffs, impossible, jungle and meadow.
Religion-We will be learning about Holy Week. We will discuss how Jesus' love for us and the sacrifice that he made for all of us. We will discuss ways we can share Jesus' love with others.
Math-We will continue to review subtraction. We will wrap up our subtraction unit this week.
Writing~ This week we are continuing to practice writing How To writing. We will write about how to make spaghetti, how to make peanut butter and jelly and how to make a milkshake.
Science/Social Studies~ We will be continue to talk about Spring. We will discuss what we like to do in the spring.
Daily 5~Students will use center activities to gain an understanding in these areas:
Guided Reading: Students will be placed into reading groups based on their levels. I will use leveled readers for their guided reading time. In the beginning of the year we are working on many skills and strategies including finger pointing, picture clues, and looking at the beginning sound. We will also focus on finding the first/last word on the page, counting the words in a sentence, and finding letters/sight words we know.
Word work: Activities revolving around our word wall will be incorporated here such as sight words, beginning/ending sounds, rhyming, blends, digraphs, and vowels.
Writing: Students will learn and practice writing letters, words and sentences, adding details/illustrations to pieces and as the year progresses, they will write stories and become real writers!
Read to Self: Children practice reading their books in their book boxes. It contains books they have created, which allows them time to read independently and become confident fluent readers.
I-Pads/Games: Students will utilize technology for listening to stories and playing reading games and activities.
